Boise Zoo

Oley and I had been debating for weeks what we were going to do for the Fourth of July.  Growing up in Idaho Falls has ruined me on the Fourth.  The whole town celebrates this holiday, to the extreme, since we have moved from there Fourth of July is the one holiday I actually do miss Idaho Falls.  We have been in Tacoma for the past 2 years and the Fourth has never quite seemed like the holiday I remember.  So on July 1st we decided that yes we would travel and that we were just going to go to Boise since it's not that far.
We left the night of the 2nd.  There was a huge lightening storm that was spectacular as we were driving.  The whole sky was lighting up with buckets of rain coming down, it was crazy.  We arrived in Boise early morning on the 3rd.  We wanted to make sure we made the most of our trip so we went to the zoo that very same day.  This was Ad's first trip to a zoo that she can actually remember.  It was a blast! Next time we will go when it's not 104 degrees outside.

When Ad saw the lion she promptly said "Baa, Baa".  Which made Oley and I both laugh, there is a picture of a lion and a lamb in the hallway when we walk into church, every week she points to it and says "baa" we are still working on "roar" for the lion.  She loved seeing the lion we stood there for quite awhile.

She was exhausted and couldn't keep her eyes open.

 She adores her cousin Ryker!

Where Did Our Baby Go

It's like she woke up one day and is now a toddler.  I don't know where our little baby went.  I think I have said this about every stage, but I absolutely love this stage.  Even though she is constantly toppling over and bumping her head or into something she shouldn't be, she is so fun!  Her laugh is contagious, whenever I try to discipline her she puts on a big ol smile and laughs, she makes it so hard to be serious with her.
Now that she can walk, as long as she has something to get herself up, she is everywhere.

She loves watermelon.  She and I sat down on the couch to "enjoy" an episode of Strawberry Shortcake and eat some watermelon, by the time Oley was done with the dishes we had eaten the entire bowl, oops.

Pigtails

I am so excited Adelé's hair is finally long enough that we can pull it up.  The way it has grown makes it impossible to do one single ponytail on the top so we resort to two pigtails, it's cuter that way anyway.

Forgive the big shiner on her head, that was from her fall last week off of her car.  Poor bug hits that same spot every time she bangs her head.
Someone told me that putting your child in the sink makes doing their hair so much easier and pleasant for everyone involved.  We have been practicing since she was able to sit.  She did a great job sitting and getting her hair put up.  As soon as we were done she was off to try and find Dinky.   Since Adelé is obsessed with playing in their food bowl, I had shut him in the pantry to eat his food.  She sat outside the door and would look under it and say "deedee" that's how she says Dinky. She loves that dog.

Loves Her Dogs

Adelé absolutely loves her dogs.  Especially Dinky. One of her first words was Dinky.  Every time we pull up to the house the first thing she says is Dinky!

With all this admiration for him she also wants to follow everything he is doing.  She recently has found that she can crawl out the doggie door too.  It scares me to death every time she does this because I am afraid she is going to go face first onto the concrete porch.  She definitely keeps me on my toes.

Busy Baby

Adelé is getting busier and busier by the day.  If there is anything in her reach she finds it and explores everything about it.  I had a little can still sitting out from Easter and she found it and had spread the paper all over the floor.  (That's what I get for not getting everything put away)
We got out her mat from when she was just a little babe and she squealed, she loves rolling around on it and playing on it.  Love this girl.  Or course in between reading books - she is such a book worm.
With all of this movement makes for a big appetite.  She is still such a good little eater.  Green beans rank as her favorite.
She loves to explore and with that comes her personality of having no fear.  She climbs up on everything, her favorite is anything that appears to be dangerous.  Last weekend she decided sitting on her car was no longer thrilling enough so decided that she should stand instead.  She knows when she is not supposed to be doing something and so gives this sly look.

Sadly, on Sunday evening I had walked into the kitchen to get everything put away so we could go to bed and she climbed up on the car and stood up, the car shifted and she fell right on her head.  By the time I was able to get back into the living room and take her from Oley she already had a huge goose egg on her head.  I felt awful, we debated whether or not to take her into to get checked.  After calling mom, who never says go to the doctor, she said I should take her in, so I was bound to take her in.  Oley didn't think it was necessary so I texted a doctor I work with and he reassured me she would be fine I just needed to watch her for a couple hours before putting her to bed.  I felt awful.  Good thing she is a tough cookie, she only cried for maybe 30 seconds and then seemed to be fine.  I guess I just over react way too much.
She definitely is busy, but we sure do love her!

Shopping

Adelé is such a good little shopping buddy and I love getting to take her with me.  Saturday morning I had to attend a church meeting for Girls Camp so Ad and I got ready and headed to that.  Once we were done we hit up the mall.  She loves to be out and about seeing other people, so the mall is one of her favorite places to go!  As I would try on clothes she would play on her stroller or eat some snacks.

When I was growing up whenever we would go to the mall with my mom she would always treat us with a stop at the popcorn stand and we would get popcorn.  Since we don't have one of those in our mall we stopped by the orange julius, neither of us had eaten lunch so I ordered a large one that we would split between the two of us.  Adelé loved it.  I assumed by the time we got to the car there would still be at least 3/4 of the drink left.  When I took it from her put her in her car seat there was only about 1/8 left.  She loved it, so I just let her finish it off.  It's amazing how much she eats and she doesn't gain anything.

The poor little bug was worn out from her trip to the mall so was fast asleep before I could even get out of the mall parking lot to drive home.  I absolutely love having a little girl that goes shopping with me!
