Just Mom and Me

Oley took the boy scouts camping this weekend and so it was just me and the babe!  I used to be so sad when Oley would leave on the weekends to camp, but ever since Adelé joined the family I love just having the weekend to ourselves.  She is getting so much spunk on her and I love it!
Before heading out we took some goofy pictures in the mirror.  I just love her little cheeks!
She seriously is the best shopping companion ever.  As I grocery shopped she happily played with her  pacifier.
Once we got home we had some dinner together.  She enjoyed her delicious rice cereal while I guiltily ate some orange chicken.  She is still a great eater!
When bedtime came she started in her own bed, but let's be honest who could resist a face like that - so we snuggled up in my bed together and laughed until she fell asleep.  Her tired laugh is irresistable!
The next morning we bundled up and went for a run while we waited for daddy to come home.  Not only is this ray of sunshine a great shopping companion she is the best running buddy!  As I ran I could hear her trying out new noises and admiring the great outdoors.
As I was finishing up my workout I had her sitting up watching me do some jumping lunges.  Every time I would start to slow down she would laugh, encouraging the competitive side of me to do a few more!  As we ended Oley pulled up into the driveway, it was perfect timing!  I cannot imagine life without this little bug, she brings me so much joy.  I love the quality one-on-one time we have together playing with each other in the mirror, shopping, laughing until we fall asleep and working out together! I hope that this is only the beginning of many great mommy-daughter times!

Getting My Craft On

I feel bad that I haven't gotten much done in Adelé's room but what little I have done makes me feel all crafty!
Aunt Kathy bought us this cute saying but I didn't want to put it on a wall becuase if we move soon than that would have been a waste, what better place than putting it on a mirror!  It still looks a little plain but that's how it's going to stay for awhile. Adelé loves looking at herself in it!

I am so glad that I finally got Adelé's name done, I wanted to have this all done and put together before she was born, I am glad that it's done now. I love the way that it turned out!  I love having a little girl and putting all this pink frilly stuff in her room.

I love making bows for Adelé, but I was having a hard time of keeping them all organized.  I saw a great idea online for a bow holder and I am liking the way it turned out!
Even though her room is a work in progress, I love when I get a couple free minutes to do something more to it!  Now that I think about it, I should have taken a picture so you could see all of her room. . . next time I make room updates I will remember to!

Yellowstone Bike Ride

Since we were in a shuffle last year at the time of the Yellowstone Bike Ride we were unable to do it.  This year Oley wanted to join in with the family again and so we decided we would sign up for the 60 mile bike ride from West Yellowstone to Old Faithful.  Needless to say with all else going on this summer we did not train. . . at all for this ride.  But it was still fun to be with the family.  We made an extremely quick trip.  As you recall Adelé does not enjoy car rides at all, but we got all loaded in on Thursday afternoon and headed out.

We wanted to drive straight through and that we did.  When we arrived in West Yellowstone it was Freezing. . . 17 degrees freezing!  Since Lauralynn's time share doesn't allow dogs Oley spent the night with the pooches in the car.  Friday we were able just to site-see in West Yellowstone and best of all Allison came to see us!!

Kim joined us this year on the ride too!  The ride was rough.  Oley and I started at the back and by the end I was DYING!  Oley opted to drive the truck back when he got to Old Faithful. . . Next year we will train better!  But it was still  a lot of fun and we can't wait to get together with family again next year and do it.
That night Oley took Adelé swimming for the first time and she loved it!

Oley's parents were kind enough to come up and watch the puppies and Adelé while we rode our bikes.  Sunday morning we stopped by their trailer and picked up the puppies and were off.  It was a long ride back, the only way we could Adelé to stop crying was to let her watch Finding Nemo. . Thank goodness!
Adelé was so happy to be home and out of her car seat! It was a VERY quick trip but it was fun and we are glad we went!

4 Months

Human Development continues to fascinate me.  I know I say this all the time but I can't believe that Adelé is already 4 months old.  She still is a champ at putting herself to sleep at night and sleeping the night through.  Her favorite thing to do is lay on her mat and play with her toys.  Oley has taught her how to stick her tongue out and blow spit bubbles, although it's extremely messy it is so adorable!  She is starting to be able to hold her head up longer while laying on her belly and soon I am sure we will see her rolling over.  She absolutely loves Dinky and Lily!  Dinky will lay next to her mat and she loves to pull on his ears.

She is getting so much personality on her.
Aunt Kathy made her the cutest little Lady Bug hat, I love it!

Taking pictures with mom is terribly exhausting!
At her 4 month doctor visit she measured in at 25 1/4 in tall, 14 lbs 8 oz, and a head circumference of 17 inches.   I am so glad that Oley came with me this time to help with the shots, this poor little baby just screams and screams after she gets them.

Rice Cereal

Adelé has been like a bottomless pit the past week or so but the doctor said that we would probably see him again before we needed to start her on the rice cereal or anything.  When he told me that I wasn't to worried about it seeing how it would be 2 months away, but when Adelé starting eating 7-8 oz every feeding and was still not acting completely full I consulted handy-dandy Google. Adelé had been showing all signs that were recommended to look for and she was extremely interested in what we were eating all the time.  So we decided we would buy her some rice and try it out, if she didn't like it then we would just wait a couple more weeks until she was ready.
Needless to say she was more than ready for the rice cereal.  She devoured what we had made for her to eat and we even made her a little bit more.  She was a natural when it came to eating off of a spoon and she didn't even make any terrible faces on her first try.  I will admit that it is a lot more work to actually have to feed her now, but she absolutely loves it and she sleeps so much better again!

Adoption Check-In

Well it's that time again when we need to head up to the adoption agency for our check-in.  Where we haven't finalized the adoption yet, we have monthly check-ins with the agency so that they can see that Adelé
is still as happy and healthy as she was last time!  Since we were traveling north we thought it would be an ideal time to get our temple trip done as well.
The check-in went great.  Everything is on track and we were given the phone number for the attorney so that we can get things rolling for finalization!  He said that he will send us papers we send them back, he files with the courthouse, the agency sends him what he needs and then he can have us a court date usually within 2-3 weeks.  It's crazy to think it's finally happening!
The temple was great as always, although now with a little one we find that it's easier to take turns so I went and then Oley went.  While Oley was in, Adelé and I went and bought her some new books at Deseret Book and enjoyed the nice weather outside on the temple grounds.

Even though I work less than 5 minutes from Oley's Aunt's house we have been horrible about getting together with them.  So on the way home from the temple we met up with them and a few friends for dinner.

Adelé was about ready to be done for the night by that time so it was a quick connect but it was so good to see them!

Day Of Service

Every year our church does a National Day of Service and since we have been married we have tried to become involved in our congregation's service project.  In year's past we have moved pea-gravel out of a playground and replaced it with bark, painted shelters, and cleaned cemeteries this year we got to work on flowerbeds outside an elementary school.  So that sounded like it was no big deal, but obviously this school was in desperate need, first they had more flowerbeds than I could even count and second I don't think they have weeded them since last year when they hosted the national day of service.  Needless to say there was a lot of work to be done.
Oley and I were able to stay for 4 hours and then had to head off to fill previous obligations, but the time that we were able to spend there was uplifting.  It was good to work alongside others but by the time we were done Adelé was more than happy to be home.
Love this little Jacket that my Aunt Kathy made her!
This was about as happy as she was to be there the whole time.

While using his manly power Oley accidentally punctured the hose that they use as their sprinkler line.  With a little bit of help and a great teaching opportunity for the young men they were able to fix it.

After we got home Adelé was so happy to be home and on her mat with her best buddy Dinky.

After a long day of service and a baptism she attended with me she zonked, mouth to mouth with her hippo of course!

Labor Day 2013

Last year on Labor Day we were making a crazy trip to Idaho Falls that involved very little sleep but a lot of good family time, this year was complete opposite!  We fortunately had plenty of sleep and were still able to have a lot of good quality family time.  We thought we were going to drive up to Everett to spend the weekend with my grandparents on Friday evening, but when I got home from work we were all exhausted so opted to sleep at our house and drive up in the morning.
I love living in the Northwest, my run Saturday was magnificent!
Adelé didn't want to play with her toys while I got ready so instead joined me in front of the mirror
Saturday morning we loaded up the car and started on an adventure.  We first stopped and had lunch with Bob and Carol (Adelé's birth great-grandparents), I am so glad that we got to spend some time with them.  They are so fun to talk with and I always feel re-energized after spending time with them!  As I mentioned in previous posts Adelé is beginning to get a little big of stranger danger, but she was perfectly content to let Great Grandma Carol hold her. We tried out a new park in Mill Creek and after walking almost completely around the park we were able to find a nice little place for a picnic.  It was so good to see them and I am glad that we got to connect before they head off for more of their adventures!  (I forgot to take any pictures with them - I am a horrible person!)
She is growing so fast, we put her in her stroller without her car seat!

After we spent time with Allison's Grand Parents we headed over to mine.  I love spending time with Grandma and Grandpa.  I wish we lived a little bit closer, but I guess living within an hour and a half is close enough really.  It was so nice just to go and relax and enjoy the long weekend. Adelé especially loved Grandpa George.

We also got to spend some time at Dave and Michele's, our poor little Lily didn't learn her lesson last year and fell into their pond again.  Silly little dog!

Monday morning we headed back home to get back to the grind.  It's so nice to have Grandma and Grandpa so close so we can just get away for the weekend occasionally.  Adelé was excited to get back home and go to mutual to play with all of her 15 year old girl friends.  Oley's response to that, "well she talks as much as a 15 year old, no wonder they get along!"
We love our little bug!
